Watch the video below to see how this project supports Mid Yorkshire’s long-term sustainability goals and carbon reduction ambitions.
Project Overview
Decarbonising Healthcare Infrastructure Across Three Sites
Following a successful Salix funding application, C3 Group was appointed to deliver a detailed carbon reduction plan across buildings at Dewsbury District Hospital and Pinderfields Hospital. The goal: develop low-carbon, compliant heating and solar solutions that meet NHS design standards.
What We Did
Detailed Design for Delivery-Ready Systems
Our team provided RIBA Stage 4 technical outputs, ensuring a smooth pathway to installation and operational success across the Trust’s estate.
Scope of Work:
- Finalised ASHP (air source heat pump) system designs
- Solar PV layouts tailored to each building’s electrical load
- Grid coordination and upgrade planning
- Compliance with HTM and NHS sustainability standards
- Collaboration with Trust estates teams for delivery readiness
This technical package sets the stage for end-to-end decarbonisation of the selected buildings.
The Results
Ready-to-Deliver Net Zero Solutions
The project is set to fully decarbonise three buildings across two hospital sites, with a projected annual carbon saving of 166.5 tonnes.
Key Outcomes:
- Reduced reliance on fossil fuels
- Improved system performance and resilience
- Support for broader NHS net zero commitments
