Salix Finance is a funding body set up to support energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects within public sector bodies. Established in 2004, Salix Finance is an arms-length, non-profit company, funded primarily by the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero, and the devolved governments in Scotland and Wales. Salix support is designed to facilitate as well as accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Salix Funding Streams
Salix funding is designed to support companies in delivering energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects within public sector non-domestic buildings. This includes central government departments and non-departmental public bodies in England.
The funding schemes enable the public sector to reduce carbon emissions in line with the UK Government’s commitment to becoming net zero by 2050.
The organisation has operated a number of schemes, although some of these are now closed for new applications. We are currently encouraging public sector organisations to apply for the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS).
The PSDS is the Salix flagship scheme, aimed at reducing carbon emissions from public sector buildings. It provides grants for capital energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects, within public sector buildings, including hospitals, schools, and local government facilities. In practical terms, this means Salix support is available for projects that can deliver substantial carbon savings, such as the installation of heat pumps, solar panels, and insulation.
